Spring has begun to subtly emerge along the banks of the Tongzhou Grand Canal. A gentle breeze caresses the surface of the river, stirring layers of ripples, on which remnants of ice glisten in large crystalline patches. Along the waterfront promenade, a few visitors leisurely stroll, enchanted by the canal's unique beauty.
To enhance the canal's biodiversity and the restoration and self-purification capacity, the management office of the north canal has adopted a range of measures including ecological bank protection, fish stocking, and the pruning of aquatic plants, with biodiversity remaining generally stable and ecological health indicators presenting steady improvement.
