On March 13, TIME Magazine unveiled its list of the World’s Greatest Places of 2025. The Beijing Library, a cultural landmark designed by Snøhetta, has been named on the list. Winner of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) 2024 Public Library of the Year Award, this “Library of the Future” seamlessly integrates digital innovation with ecological aesthetics, redefining the possibilities of a modern library.

Opened to the public at the end of 2023, the library has become a key cultural landmark in Beijing Municipal Administrative Center—a modern hub for learning, knowledge sharing, social interaction, and community engagement. Over the past year, the library has welcomed more than 3.7 million visitors, hosted over 3,400 cultural events across diverse reading spaces, and engaged 18 million readers both online and offline. With its personalized, intelligent, and accessible services, it has emerged as a new cultural destination for the city’s residents. Now recognized on TIME’s prestigious list, this “vibrant and inviting book heaven” invites travelers from around the world to explore the depths of civilization and experience the immersive fusion of literature and tourism.
