Recently, a vibrant graduation exhibition brimming with youthful energy and boundless creativity inaugurated the Zhangjiawan Fashion Carnival.

Co-organized by the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology (BIFT), Zhongguancun Tongzhou Park Administrative Committee, Tongzhou District Culture and Tourism Bureau, and Zhangjiawan Town, with support from Beijing Investment Group and Beijing Topnew Info&Tech Co., Ltd., the event serves as a precursor to BIFT's official relocation to Zhangjiawan Town later this year. Under the theme "Fashion Illuminates the City, Art Empowers Life," the carnival creates a comprehensive "art + technology + consumption" cultural tourism experience. Highlights include a grand graduation exhibition attracting tens of thousands of visitors, an interactive "Talking Fashion Avenue", four vibrant themed markets, four special theme-day events, and 18 dazzling fashion shows.

The graduation exhibition, hosted at the Beijing International Design Week Permanent Venue until May 25, showcases over 6,000 works by more than 1,500 BIFT students. Spanning art and technology, tradition and innovation, virtual and physical realms, as well as Chinese chic and intangible cultural heritage, it represents a high-caliber display of the institute's educational achievements and cutting-edge fashion vision.

The Fashion Avenue has also made a striking debut. A 3-kilometer stretch from Zhangjiawan Design Town to Zhangfeng Road has been transformed into an immersive art corridor. Featuring 12 dynamic video columns cycling through young artists' works, over 100 canopy poster installations forming an "aerial gallery", and interactive poetry-inspired photo spots, the space creates a multidimensional visual experience.

Over the next month, the Beijing International Design Week venue will host 18 professional fashion shows exploring knitwear innovation, digital apparel, and other avant-garde fields, alongside six industry forums addressing topics like digital preservation of intangible heritage and costume design for film and television. These events span technology, culture, sports, and performing arts.

To ensure broad public engagement, themed days—including Youth Aesthetic Education Day, Alumni Day, and Hanfu Culture Day—will be held alongside creative markets featuring Beijing university student designs, intangible heritage crafts, pet-friendly fashion, and regional cuisines, enabling visitors to experience Zhangjiawan through diverse perspectives.

The carnival's climax arrives during the May 1-3 holiday, when attendees can explore the BIFT graduation exhibition, enjoy six themed fashion shows, a traditional opera parade, and four markets offering unique cultural products, hands-on heritage crafts, global culinary delights, and innovative human-pet interaction experiences.
