Beijing Book Fair (BMC Exhibition) Closing with Farewell, Followed by "Canal Book Fair"
During the recently concluded "May Day" holiday, the 2025 Beijing Book Fair (BMC Exhibition) attracted a large number of readers from Beijing and surrounding areas with its rich selection of books, exciting cultural activities, and a strong reading atmosphere. Starting from May 1st, a "reading wave" was created over the course of five days at the Beijing Municipal Administrative Center (BMC).
The exhibition at the BMC featured more than 120 booths, divided into eight distinctive themed areas. Each area offered themed publications, selected books, and more, catering to the diverse needs of different reading groups and providing them with unique reading experiences.
During the "May Day" period, 16 outdoor cultural interactive activities were held at the 2025 Beijing Book Fair (BMC Exhibition), including children's dramas, popular science lectures, handicraft workshops, and calligraphy displays.
At the Beijing Library, 13 interactive lectures were held in succession, showcasing the vibrant cultural charm of the BMC.
It is reported that in addition to the "main venue" at the shared space of the three major cultural facilities, a second exhibition venue was also set up at Moon River Town. During the book fair, the second venue hosted more than 70 booths, offering book exhibitions, interactive lectures, outdoor movies on the lawn, stargazing reading activities, and more. At the same time, various cultural industry parks from the BMC organized more than 20 cultural and entertainment activities at Moon River Town, including "43 Happy Market | The Most Beautiful Four 'Reading' Days," art exhibitions, children's plays, and more.

Dai Yingchun, Deputy Director of the District Publicity Department, stated that this year marked the first time the Beijing Spring Book Fair set up a venue in the BMC at Tongzhou District. In addition to the "Canal Tongzhou" cultural tourism, business, sports, and agriculture themed exhibition area, local physical bookstores and members of the cultural tourism, business, and sports industry co-creation alliance also established a presence at the BMC to promote and showcase the cultural tourism development achievements of Tongzhou. The event also featured the promotion of the spring-summer edition of the "BMC Cultural Tourism Consumer Guide" and offered a variety of cultural activities.
After the closure of the book fair (BMC Exhibition) on May 5th, the second venue at Moon River Town will be transformed into a regular book fair—"Canal Book Fair"—which will be held every weekend from May to September. The event will continuously enhance the charm of the "Read the Grand Canal" reading brand and promote the integration of culture, commerce, and tourism.
