Extra-Long Vacations Ahead: Beijing Announces Summer Vacation Arrangements for Primary and Secondary Schools and Universities

According to the academic calendar for the second semester of the 2024-2025 academic year for the primary and secondary schools in Beijing, the summer vacation for compulsory education schools (grades 1-9) will be from July 7 (Monday) to August 31 (Sunday), 2025, lasting eight weeks, while the non-compulsory education stage will observe summer vacation from July 14 (Monday) to August 31 (Sunday), 2025, lasting seven weeks.
In addition to primary and secondary schools, universities across the city are preparing to wrap up the current semester and enter summer vacation. Continue reading for the schedules of different universities in Beijing.
Tsinghua University
For undergraduate students, the summer semester and vacation period spans from June 23 to September 14, totaling 12 weeks.
Graduate students participating in social practice will conduct their activities from June 23 to August 3 (totaling six weeks), followed by the summer vacation period from August 4 to 31 (totaling four weeks).
For faculty members engaging in frontline teaching and research, along with graduate students not participating in social practice, their summer vacation period will be from July 14 to August 10 (totaling four weeks).
Peking University
The summer vacation for the students on the main campus began on June 23.
The summer vacation for the students of Peking University Health Science Center will begin on July 7.
Renmin University of China
The summer vacation will begin on July 7 (which is also for social practice activities and the scheduled International Summer School). The new semester will start on September 8.
Beijing Institute of Technology
The summer vacation will last from June 30 to August 24, totaling 56 days.
University of Science and Technology Beijing
The summer vacation will last from July 21 to August 31, totaling six weeks.
Beijing Jiaotong University
The summer vacation will last from July 28 to September 7, totaling six weeks.
Central University of Finance and Economics
The summer vacation will last from July 14 to August 31, totaling seven weeks.
University of International Business and Economics
The summer vacation will start on July 5, and September 4 is designated as the student registration day.
China University of Political Science and Law
The summer vacation will begin on July 28. Students of the classes of 2023 and 2024 (undergraduate and graduate) shall return to campus on August 30. The undergraduate students of the class of 2025 shall register on August 31, while the graduate students of the class of 2025 shall register on August 31 or September 1.
Beijing Sport University
The period from July 14 to August 29 is designated for students' social practice and the summer vacation.
Beijing University of Technology
The vacation period will last from July 5 to September 7, totaling 65 days. Students participating in the military training courses will start their vacations after completing their courses on July 11, with the new semester to officially commence on September 8.
