Who says you must go to the seaside to enjoy a sunset? Along the Grand Canal in Tongzhou, breathtaking sunset scenery unfolds day after day.

As the sun descends and the sky flushes with color, the surface of the Grand Canal glows in shades of gold and crimson.

The riverside high-rises of the Canal Business District are reflected in the water, and amid the interplay of light and shadow, the entire city seems to melt into an oil painting.

Here you may not hear the roar of waves, yet you feel the ancient pulse of the Canal; you may not see beaches or palm shadows, yet you find “emerald waters reflecting verdant banks, where fish glide in the shallows.”

Behind this picturesque waterscape lies the year-round stewardship of BMC.

Spring brings revival, autumn renews vitality, and even in winter the work never stops. Tongzhou fully leverages the city-level ecological water-replenishment program to continuously enhance riverine ecological governance.

So far this year, the district has completed a total of 243 million cubic meters of ecological water replenishment, allowing 323 kilometers across 68 river sections to regain their shimmering clarity.

Tens of thousands of migratory birds come to overwinter here each year—Tongzhou is truly a “livable paradise” for avian species.

The ecological vision of “Water–City Integration” becomes ever more resplendent throughout the seasons. The Grand Canal banks in Tongzhou have long been a popular destination for residents and visitors.

Here, reeds sway and whisper in the breeze, and migratory birds occasionally skim across the water.

At dusk, the modern skyline of the Canal Business District lights up, interweaving with the natural glow of the sunset to form a vivid tableau of “Water–City Integration.”
The ancient Canal, renewed, is once again shaping Tongzhou’s prosperity. Today, the Grand Canal has become an “ecological living room” for strolling, relaxation, and sightseeing.

After a busy day, consider taking a walk along the Grand Canal at sunset—beauty awaits you just ahead.
