Where the millennia-old Grand Canal meets international art, and Mid-Autumn moonlight mingles with melodies from around the world, from September 24 to 27, the 4th Beijing International Canal Arts Fest will light up Tongzhou Canal Cultural Square in Beijing. Artists from 13 countries and 14 performing arts troupes will gather along the Grand Canal, bringing audiences a celebration of music and dance that transcends borders. Hailing from Louisiana, USA and based in Beijing as a professional musician, thruoutin plays a modified electric pipa, blending traditional Chinese folk elements with electronic music.
Project X (Brazil, Ukraine, Belarus, France)
Multi‑national musicians based in Beijing, Project X is a regular fixture on local live‑music scene. At this Arts Fest, they will present a medley of classic Western hits.
Calico (Indonesia, Germany)
Rock rising star among Beijing's universities. Composed of multi‑national students, the band shines on campus stages and is also active across local livehouse venues.
Rongxiang Sanxian Chamber Orchestra
China's first professional Sanxian chamber Orchestra explores the integration of traditional Chinese instrumental music and contemporary art. It presents time‑honoured Chinese classics as well as world‑famous melodies, delivering a refreshing acoustic experience.
