A place dubbed "Little Altay" in Beijing's Tongzhou district has gone viral online. Yuantou Island is a 30.84 hectares artificial island at the confluence of five waterways along the Grand Canal. The three parks on the island offer open fields, green lawns and woodlands, creating a natural ecological corridor on the water. The island is expected to fully open to visitors in May 2027.
