Recently, at the Yanjiao Station of the Hebei section of Beijing Subway Line 22, the “Duxing Shield Machine”, with a diameter of 8.29 meters and a total weight of approximately 1,400 tons, successfully rotated its cutter head out of the tunnel and precisely entered the receiving steel sleeve. This marked the completion of the third twin-tunnel shield tunneling section of the Hebei section of the subway line. With this milestone, 50% of the civil engineering work for the Hebei section of Line 22 has now been completed.

Beijing Subway Line 22 is the first inter-provincial urban rail transit line connecting Beijing and Hebei. It spans approximately 81.2 kilometers and includes 22 stations, and links Beijing's Chaoyang, Tongzhou, and Pinggu districts with Sanhe City in Hebei Province. Six stations are planned for the Beijing Sub-Center Railway Station, including Yongshun Station, Beiguan Station, Yunhe Shangwuqu Station, Fuzhongxin Railway Station, Zhengwuzhongxin Station, and Zhengwuzhongxindong Station. The Hebei section covers about 30 kilometers and includes five stations and six intervals.
Beijing Subway Line 22 serves as a vital corridor bridging Beijing’s Chaoyang District, the Beijing Municipal Administrative Center (Beijing MC), the northern three counties of Langfang in Hebei province, and Beijing’s Pinggu District, playing a crucial role in fostering future regional coordinated development. Once completed, travel time from Yanjiao in Hebei to the Beijing MC will be reduced to just 9 minutes, and it will take approximately 32 minutes to travel from the northern three counties of Langfang to the Dongdaqiao Station in Beijing CBD. This will greatly improve the cross-provincial commuting efficiency.
