The Pinggu Line is Beijing's first cross-city rail transit line and a demonstration project for building rail transit in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. The line spans a total of 81.82 kilometers, passing through Chaoyang District, Tongzhou District, Sanhe City in Hebei, and Pinggu District in Beijing. Six stations are planned for Beijing Municipal Administrative Center (BMC), including Yongshun Station, Beiguan Station, Yunhe Shangwuqu Station, Fuzhongxin Railway Station, Zhengwuzhongxin Station, and Zhengwuzhongxindong Station.

Relevant officials stated that three stations in Hebei have been completed: Shenwei Dajie Station, Chaobai Station, and Gaolou Station. Double-line tunneling for the three sections—Yanjiao Station to Shenwei Dajie Station, Shenwei Dajie Station to Chaobai Dajie Station, and Gaolou to Qixinzhuang—has been completed, with the overall Hebei section project now more than halfway finished.

Once completed, travel time from Yanjiao in Hebei to the BMC will be reduced to just 9 minutes, and it will take approximately 32 minutes to travel from the northern three counties of Langfang to the Dongdaqiao Station in Beijing CBD.
