Recently, the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism launched the “Strolling Beijing · Chasing Light Night Tour” urban exploration event, unveiling 10 themed itineraries that showcase Beijing’s new night tourism landmarks. Among them, the Tongzhou route—featuring the Night Grand Canal, night cruises, and night markets—invites visitors to fully appreciate the millennia-old canal scenery and experience the vibrant energy of the BMC as a city with a thousand-year heritage.
This Tongzhou night tour connects several iconic cultural and tourism landmarks, including the Beijing (Tongzhou) Grand Canal Cultural Tourism Area, Grand Canal Night Cruise (Second Wharf, Olympic Sports Park), Dropping Dew from Lotus Bridge, and Moon River Art Town. You can cycle along the greenways of the Grand Canal Park to enjoy uninterrupted vistas where water meets sky, and take a break at the canal’s west bank lawn café with a refreshing iced coffee. At dusk, visitors can embark on a night cruise along the canal to admire the thousand-year-old scenery that unfolds like a living ancient painting. Dinner on the boat allows you to savor Nanmen hotpot while drifting through the night. At Dropping Dew from Lotus Bridge, you can picnic, fish, stroll with kids, or watch the sunset—varied entertainment awaits. Also, you are welcomed to explore Moon River Art Town at night to experience the lively blend of historical charm and contemporary city life.
