Beijing’s “3×100” key municipal engineering projects have pressed the “accelerate button”, with the BMC witnessing rapid progress across multiple fronts.

Among them, the highly anticipated Beijing No.1 Experimental High School Project has officially commenced construction in the BMC. The new school will feature 66 teaching classes, adding 2,970 new senior high school seats upon completion.

As a major public education project in the BMC, Beijing No.1 Experimental High School is located in Songzhuang Town, Tongzhou District, bounded by Xusong Road to the east, Luyuan South Street to the south, Songzhuang Cultural Zone No.3 Road to the west, and the old Jingyu Line to the north.

With a total investment of approximately RMB 780 million and a construction area of 108,000 square meters, the school will accommodate 66 teaching classes and provide 2,970 new high school seats.

The project follows the same campus planning principles and architectural design philosophy as the already completed Beijing No.1 Experimental School, facilitating the development of a unified and high-quality educational brand.

“The project is currently in the site leveling stage,” said the project manager at the Songzhuang construction site, pointing to the master plan. “Our team is working around the clock to prepare for the next phase, and the main structure construction is expected to begin soon.”

“The establishment of this school will not only fill the shortage of premium high school resources in the northern part of the BMC,” said an official from the Beijing Municipal Commission of Development and Reform, “but will also allow local residents to access high-quality education right at their doorstep.” Once completed, the project will significantly enhance the availability of senior high school seats, elevate the overall standard of basic education, and strengthen the region’s talent attraction capacity. It will also provide key support for improving public services in the BMC, helping to realize the vision of ensuring that “everyone has a home to live in and access to quality education.”
