Recently, the Songzhuang Cultural and Creative Park officially entered its trial opening phase.
As a regional comprehensive park, it spans 20.76 hectares (approximately 311.4 mu). The park’s northern boundary extends from the south of the old Jingyu Line to Songzhuang South Third Street and north of the old Jingyu Line, while the southern section stretches from Songzhuang South Third Street to Dinggezhuang Street.
Now open on a trial basis, the park radiates a unique charm that blends “art and daily life,” transforming into one of the BMC’s most vibrant and life-filled green corridors. Behind its serene natural beauty lies a design concept that harmonizes ecological sustainability with all-age inclusivity.
The landscape design emphasizes seasonal diversity. The park features 1,531 deciduous trees, complemented by evergreen species and extensive ground cover, creating a dynamic ecosystem that remains lush across all four seasons. In addition, the park’s plant selection carefully balances aesthetic appeal with ecological value. More than 60,000 square meters of ground-cover vegetation not only enhances the landscape’s visual beauty but also contributes to the creation of a stable urban ecological system.
What appears to be an ordinary garden path also reflects thoughtful design ingenuity. The use of permeable brick materials effectively reduces surface runoff and helps alleviate urban waterlogging. Meanwhile, the over 4,000-square-meter water-based EAU coated running track provides professional and comfortable conditions for running enthusiasts.
From the outdoor art exhibition area in the northern zone, to the tranquil cultural promenade in the central zone, and finally to the nature-themed learning and sports area in the southern zone, Phase I of the park strategically links different functional sections through distinctive activity nodes, ensuring that residents of all ages can find their own sense of belonging in this inclusive public space.
At present, the park is in its trial opening phase. The northern section, stretching from south of the old Jingyu Line to Songzhuang South Third Street and north of the old Jingyu Line, is expected to have municipal water and electricity fully connected by the end of the year. The southern section, extending from Songzhuang South Third Street to Dinggezhuang Street, is undergoing landscaping construction, which is scheduled for completion by mid-December. The sports fields and recreational facilities located in the southern area are expected to be completed and opened next year.
