Remarkable! Two Locations in the BMC Selected as Beijing’s New Internet-Famous Check-In Destinations
On December 17, the event “Brewing Tea by the Hearth and Enjoying Warming Winter Journeys—2025 Beijing New Internet-Famous Check-In Destinations and Micro-Vacation Destinations Release & Winter Cultural and Tourism Resources Sharing Conference,” hosted by the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, was successfully held. At the event, the annual list was officially released. Two destinations in Tongzhou District—the Canal West and the Roof Bar at Crowne Plaza Beijing Tongzhou—stood out for their distinctive cultural appeal, outstanding spatial quality, and strong public popularity, and were both awarded the title of “2025 Beijing New Internet-Famous Check-In Destination.”
Canal West
The Canal West is a modern waterfront leisure zone developed to high standards by the BMC. Through forward-looking landscape design, comprehensive public service facilities, and intelligent operational management, it has been shaped into an urban waterfront reception space integrating ecological sightseeing, sports and leisure, and social entertainment. A wide range of business formats has been introduced here, including coffee and light dining, restaurants and lounge bars, cultural and artistic spaces, and trendy retail, where artistic ambiance and everyday vitality intertwine.
During this year’s National Day holiday, the Second Canal West · Better Life Festival of the BMC, characterized by the integration of “tourism + commerce + culture,” successfully attracted massive participation from residents and visitors alike. All activities enjoyed strong momentum, with holiday footfall exceeding 300,000 visits.
According to the schedule, on New Year’s Eve, December 31, the Canal West will broadcast the live signal of the “Ringing of Bells and Drums” ceremony on large outdoor screens, enhancing public participation and a sense of ritual. Under the theme “Welcoming the New Year with the Ones You Love,” a 1.3-kilometer-long “River of Time and Love” will be created, forming a performance matrix featuring “main and secondary stages + costumed character parade troupes.” The program will include five major stage performances, six parade teams, and seven themed installation check-in spots, complemented by two themed markets, stamp-collecting activities, a midnight countdown, and lucky draws, further enriching the depth and duration of citizens’ cultural and tourism consumption experiences.
Roof Bar at Crowne Plaza Beijing Tongzhou
The Roof Bar at Crowne Plaza Beijing Tongzhou has become a new benchmark for high-end leisure consumption in the region, thanks to its unique elevated vantage point, stylish design philosophy, and refined service experience.
Offering sweeping views over the cultural and tourism district, together with premium dining services and an elegant, atmospheric setting, it serves as an ideal venue for business networking or relaxed evening conversations. Savoring a signature cocktail on the rooftop terrace, guests can enjoy a breathtaking panorama of molten-gold sunsets and the Universal Resort—an experience of pure indulgence.
The selection of these two modern landmarks highlights the BMC’s notable achievements in shaping a modern urban image and fostering high-quality consumption scenarios.
Looking ahead, Tongzhou District will continue to focus on modern urban development, cultivate more pioneering cultural and tourism consumption spaces, steadily enhance urban quality and vitality, and promote the high-quality development of the cultural and tourism industry.
