Beijing Suburban Railway's Sub-Center Line
With the completion of key construction phases, the much-anticipated upgrade for the Beijing Suburban Railway's Sub-Center Line (Beijing West Railway Station-Liangxiang section, or the "western section" for short) has entered the inspection and acceptance phase.
The western section spans a total length of 31.5 kilometers, passing through three districts: Fangshan, Fengtai, and Shijingshan. As part of the upgrade, two new stations—Yamenkou East and Fangshan East—have been added, while three existing stations—Beijing West Railway Station, Houlvcun, and Liangxiang— have been renovated. Additionally, a new 4.5-kilometer double-track section connecting Liangxiang to the Changyang Block Post has been constructed.

The districts along the route are now improving transportation connectivity at each station. Once operational, the upgraded section will enhance the suburban railway's ability to cover longer distances with fewer stops and faster travel between major stations, making it more convenient for residents in southwestern Beijing to commute to and from the city center.
As vital components of the capital's rail transit network, the suburban railway lines serve multiple purposes, including daily commuting, school runs, and suburban leisure trips. Compared to the subway system, these lines, with efficient interconnectivity, better serve long-distance commuters.
